All are invited to join us for our midweek Lenten gatherings as we explore the cross, our most sacred symbol, and ponder in sacred play "Whose Cross Is It Anyway?"
Lent is the forty days between Ash Wednesday and Easter. The Sundays of Lent are not included in the count, because every Sunday is a celebration of the Resurrection. Thus, most denominations that observe Lent hold midweek gatherings for a truer Lenten experience. TLC holds this midweek event on Thursdays, this year beginning on February 21.
We start with a simple supper, recalling how the first Christians met in their homes over a meal. Come for a bowl of soup, some bread, and a dessert. If you have a knack for making soup, you are invited to sign up to be a cook for one of these Thursdays during Lent. The signup sheet is on the bulletin board across from the kitchen. Soup's on at 6:30.
At 7:30, we move to the sanctuary for worship. Each week, we will focus on one version of the cross and we will act out scenes of a Lenten drama entitled "Whose Cross Is It Anyway?" written by Mark and Karla Jensen for the Contemporary Drama Service, Colorado Springs, Colorado. We conclude each worship with a beautiful gospel song that Lizann Basham brought to us at the TLC Women's Retreat in January. Nora Wilson has fallen in love with the song!
Finally, each week, bring a can of food for F.I.S.H. and place it in the wheelbarrow during the gathering of our offerings.
May your Lenten journey be powerful and Spirit led.
