ROASTED:  This was the last ROASTED and everyone was invited.  We had a great time and the artist, Kathy Schallart, was very entertaining.

The kids volunteered at our Community Garden.  They worked hard spreading mulch on a very hot day!

The kids planned and executed the first full Youth Service.  It was the outdoor service at Youth Park and everyone had a great time.  There was brunch and games afterward.

On October 6^th, the kids attended the Rock of Ages Music Festival in Calistoga.

Afterwards, they attended the “Ultimate Challenge Retreat” at Jan Loewen’s house.  There, they authored the “Rules of Engagement” that are posted in the Sunday School room.  They also learned the definition of “Challenge”.

Sunday School began focusing on the reality TV show about kids who face the “Ultimate Challenge” doing crazy stunts but also learning about themselves and the challenges they face as youth today.

The kids had a gift wrapping fund raiser and decided to donate the money to the Oakland Children’s Hospital.  They thought that they would like to help sick kids and kids that were less fortunate than they.  They raised $104 and it was matched by Thrivent, for a total of $208 to the Children’s Hospital.

The kids also performed a play at the early Christmas Eve Service, which was coordinated mostly by Zoe Zuest-Becker.  They did a great job!
